Miri, Sarawak (October 2019)

On last year, 2019 Deepavali break on October, me and my secondary school best friend, Ryan spontaneously decided to fly to Miri, Sarawak for a getaway. 

We have a best friend, Joven who work there, so he bring us around for this trip. 

Off we go, shall we! 

I miss this window and this scenery a lot! Hope that we can travel soon. 

We reach Miri! On the way to the town for food.

First stop after lunch, we went to the Grand Old Lady, on top of Canada Hill. 

The Grand Old Lady is Miri first drilled oil well in the country.

Anyway, the hill top overlook the Miri City and South China Sea, the view is really breathtaking! 

Second stop, we went to a beach. 

My mother hometown is at a kampung called Kuala Besut at Kelantan, and is just beside the South China Sea. Since young, when I'm back to my mother hometown, I always like to walk around the beach nearby there. That's why I love beach. I enjoy listening to the tide wave sound, it really calm me down a lot. 

Next, is dinner time!

Just a simple dinner, but I love the Sayur Midin, is a popular vegetable in Sarawak. 

Day 1 ended after dinner. 

Day 2 is an exciting day, it was the highlight of the trip, Gua Niah. 

But first, Breakfast! 

Dayum! I miss this bowl of hearty Sarawak Laksa. 

After breakfast, Gua Niah, let's go!

Feel so good to be back to the nature!

Greenery, so nice! 

It takes few hours to hike in and out of Gua Niah, it certainly not an easy hike, there's lot of step of stairs. But we conquer it. It was so worth it to be back to the nature and finally get to see the oldest and biggest cave that I always learn from history book during my secondary school times. 

After an exciting hike, we went for a satisfied lunch nearby. 

This river prawn is so fresh! Looking at it makes me craving for it. 

Destination after lunch was Tusan beach. 

The famous "Horse Head Drinking Water" rock formation at Tusan Beach. Glad that we went there last year. It collapsed on this year February 2020. 

We went to see the huge sea horse statue at Miri Waterfront. 

Sitting by the beach to wait for sunset, so mesmerising!

Next is the highlight meal of the trip, Seafood dinner! 

The prawn, the squid taste so fresh and delicious! Satisfied dinner indeed!

Day 2 end after dinner. 

Last day, day 3 of the trip is free and easy, as we took a flight back in the afternoon. 

Start the day with my favourite Sarawak Kolo Mee! 

Went to walk around the park nearby our hotel after breakfast to catch Pokemon as both of us play 
Pokemon Go! haha.

After that, we went to eat another bowl of Sarawak Laksa before flying back to KL. 

I can eat this every day seriously, so delicious!

This 3 days 2 night Miri trip is really an enjoyable trip. Glad that we make it to this trip last year. This year will need to spend the Deepavali break at home. Stay safe everyone and take care! hopefully, we can travel soon. 

If you never been to Miri, Sarawak, maybe you can consider to plan a trip there after this pandemic.It sure will be a fun trip!

Weekend Late Brunch at Kenny Hills Baker, Ampang

Kenny Hills Baker, a cafe at a bungalow lot at Jalan Ampang with good food and cozy environment.

This is just a sharing from me. Good food are meant to be shared. 

On the first Sunday on August, 2nd August, me, my nephew and his wife decided to go for a weekend brunch. After few months of staying at home, we just want to chill and catch up at a cafe and enjoy a lazy Sunday. Rest assured, we practice physical distancing, wear mask and sanitise always. 

Kenny Hills Bakers is one of the cafe that we plan to visit. So we decided to meet at Kenny Hills Bakers for a late brunch on that day. 

Lucky for us, we just need to wait for a while for a table. 

Did not really took much of the photo of the restaurant as we are hungry for our first meal of the day. 

So, just let the food talk, shall we? 

We order few food for sharing. 

Beef Pepperoni Pizza

Kenny Hills Baker have their own pizza oven, all their pizza are handcrafted to order. So pizza is a must to order when you are there. We order the Beef Pepperoni pizza. I love the crispy pizza crust, the cheesy pizza filling with pepperoni is so satisfying.

Truffle Mac and Cheese is another house favourite. The truffle, mac and cheese match so well. Few spoonful of this will make you feel a little bit full. I'm not a cheesy person, but I love this mac and cheese as their cheese is just nice, not too cheesy.

Dessert is a must to enjoy while at a cafe. We go for a slice of the Salted Caramel Apple Cheesecake. I enjoy the soft apple, crunchy almond and the delicious cheesecake.

All 3 of us opt for smoothies as drink on that day. I go for a glass of Banana Berries. The Banana Berries is very original mix with banana and berries. It's so refreshing. 

We order some pastry too, but forgot to take a photo of it. 

Overall, I enjoy the weekend late brunch. The food was nice, cafe was cozy, of course with the awesome people that i enjoy hanging out with. 

My taste might be different with you, so do go to the cafe to taste it by yourself and have your say. I highly recommend this cafe to everyone.

2020 - A new decade

2020, a brand new decade, and i'm still here at this space writing a blog post. 
This is my uncountable attempt to update my blog. 
Been trying to update this space, but yet is always failed. 
Being a bit of perfectionist in me, i tend to be very cautious on the word i use, thinking too much on what topic that i should write etc. 
But to think back, who actually cares about what i write. 
For me, this is a space for me to jot down my thought, and also an online diary that i can look back always. 
I'm not here to impress anyone. 
So, this time round, i will just write down what i want to write. 
I will not care so much. 
Read it or leave it. 
Is my life by the way. YOLO. 

Looking back, it seems to be that i will always update my blog every 2 years. 
My last post was April 2018. 
And then i stop blogging. 

I can't promise how frequent that i will update this space, probably will update when i feel so. 
Not making this a commitment, but making it as a casual writing space. 
After all, writing is still the best way to express oneself, at least to me. 

Just a random post today. 
Not going to make it longer.

Anyway, have a great 200220! lots of deals around.

Food - SS15, Subang Jaya

As i work at Subang Jaya, i shall recommend some of the good food at Subang Jaya. 

Do note that this post is not a food review post, but is a more of a food recommendation post. 

Thai Sauce Chicken Chop with rice with fried egg

Tried this chicken chop with rice and fried egg recently. The chicken chop is tender and i love the thai sauce, is spicy and tasty. The meat actually blend in well with the thai sauce, it wont be dry as the meat actually absorb the thai sauce. 

Other than this food, the cafe actually offer lots of other Asian food. Is worth a try.

Signature Pan Mee 

This particular Pan Mee main ingredient is the fried fish cake. The fish cake is crunchy. While nothing to shout about the Pan Mee. People usually go for their fried fishcake.

Butter Chicken Rice

The butter taste is not too rich, added together with the Serai leaf is just nice. Chicken is soft and juicy, totally absorb the butter taste. But can't eat much, you get full and 'jelak' after 1 plate of it. This is the signature dish for this restaurant.

Grilled Chicken Chop with Mash Potato and Vegetable

This western Grilled Chicken Chop with Mash Potato and Vegetable is delicious, rarely you can find this kind of chicken chop anymore, tender chicken. And most importantly the price is reasonable. It comes with Garlic bread and soup of the day as appetizer, dessert of the day, and hot tea or coffee, Very 'English' style. 

Peppercorn Cafe

Aglio Olio with Bacon

This cafe is famous with their pasta and waffle. The chef for this cafe is very generous with the ingredient, there are a lot Bacon, cheese and Chili added into the pasta. But now the cafe is close, they only do delivery.

Lee Chong Wei The Movie

Lee Chong Wei The Movie is an inspiring movie. 

The movie tells the life of Lee Chong Wei from when he is small and his father does not allowed him to play badminton, to how he being trained at Bukit Mertajam, to how he manage to join BAM and to how he become world number 1 and win Lin Dan. 

The lesson i learn from the movie is: 

1. Be a team player, but not just a winner or champion.

2. Be determined and never give up when you want to achieve something.

 3. Don't pressure yourself too much, you can do it.

4. Life is not just about winning. 

5. The road to success is long and not easy, so be persevere. 

6. Everyone have their own timing in life to be success.

7. Don't let anyone affect you, believe in yourself.

8. When you lose your passion, find it back just like how you start it. 

9. Don't ever find excuse to give up, because you are the only excuse to give up.

10. Don't lose hope, there will be someone that have hope on you.

Dining Experience with Celebrity at Nam Heong Ipoh Damen USJ

Wow, can't believe that i have a chance to dine with celebrity.

We dine at Nam Heong Ipoh Damen USJ.

It is definitely a very good experience.

After you are seated, you can start order the food you want to eat using an IPAD, very high-tech. 

After you finish order food and drink, just be patience and wait for a while, the celebrity will come and join you. 

You really thought is the real celebrity, don't you? But no, you are wrong, this restaurant waitress is robot by the name of the celebrity. She will serve you food. This is the future waitress, the robot era, very cool. She can talk too, in Cantonese language. 

We order the egg tart as the appetizer. 

The egg tart is really tasty and crispy, 蛋很滑,
挞很脆口,recommended to try if you eat at this restaurant. 

Of course, the main dish for this restaurant is Chicken rice. 

The chicken rice with keropok, nothing to shout about this. 

The roast pork and char siew is a bit more to the fat side, i prefer mixture of lean and fat roast pork and Char Siew. But the meat is juicy, 爽口.

The price for the food is around RM 11 - RM 16 , and the price for the drink is around RM 4 - RM 10. 

You can go and try the food there. After all, is not every day you get to be served by "celebrity".
